Good Morning Family and Friends
Saying goodbye to my new family is very hard. I have enjoyed being here in Chicaman, Guatemala. I will miss the culture, the people, and the food. I learned that people are very curious about me as a black woman - they would instantly want to touch my hair. In my culture this is a no-no!! I have allowed the Lord to use my hair as a ministry tool for the gospel even if it is not accepted in my culture.
The tradition here in Chicaman is to have tortillas at every meal. If I would have counted how many tortillas I had at every meal while being here, it would be over 200 tortillas. I really enjoyed homemade black corn tortillas with my meals. I am a vegetarian because eating meat hurts my stomach. It has been very nice to have the option to eat a variety of vegetables instead of meat.
I love this place so much! Please pray for the people here who lost their home during the hurricane. Please pray for our host family as they continue to serve the local people. Thank you.
